Kew Gardens Deadwood Amphitheatre

Below is the aerial view of the magnificent deadwood amphitheatre in Kew Gardens, London, England.

Simon who designed and built this amphitheatre writes:
"We need to be promoting deadwood as a landscape material that should be part of the ecological fabric of parks and gardens and as an abundant resource that can be used aesthetically in new garden and landscape design."


The sculptor Paul Sivell made the stag beetles. The female, on the left, is a recent addition.

Update: Brett Ratcliffe reported on Aug 2014: “The deadwood amphitheater is totally overgrown now, and you cannot see logs or the model beetles. To most visitors who don't know its history, there is nothing there except a mass of weedy vegetation.”
